- Visualization planning enables the teacher to think aloud about their possible moves, students’ possible responses, and possible branching interactions. The coach is both an active listener and recorder, taking notes that can become a lesson plan.
- Using the visualized lesson plan, teachers engage students in the practices, and video record the lesson.
- The teacher and the coach each make comments on the classroom video, independently.
- Teacher and coach debrief with these questions: Did I accomplish what I set out to do in the Visualization Planning session? How did my students engage in the mathematical practices?
Year-round Coaching Support
VisTe coaches meet once a month with staff to reflect on and deepen their coaching practice. They use videos of their meetings with teachers as common ground for discussions. VisTe staff provide feedback on those videos through University of Florida’s Flamingo, an online coaching support system.
