AVID: Executive Function for Inclusive STEM Teaching

In their session at the AVID National Conference, presenters described their recent and upcoming research projects focused on supporting Executive Function (EF) in STEM teaching in learning. They shared research results and example materials from Including Neurodiversity in Foundational and Applied Computational Thinking (INFACT), an inclusive teaching and learning program for computational thinking in grades 3–8 with embedded tools, scaffolds, and differentiation strategies to support learners’ EF. They also engaged participants in a hands-on activity from the INFACT curriculum and a mini co-design session to help shape a future professional development program focused on preparing elementary educators to create more inclusive STEM learning experiences for their students.
