Author's StatementApplying the principles of the Talking Circle were extremely beneficial for some of the most important issues I either directed or was involved in solving. Often “leaders” want to ask a couple of pertinent questions, make a decision, and give direction. I found the more important the issue, the more important to hear from everyone, even the ones who were leery of speaking up in a group setting. … I often explained to non-Natives, we have Indian time, and part of that is driven by the idea that it is done when it is done, and if it not done, then we keep going. While an anathema to the business world, it really focuses on getting [things] done correctly.
