Author's Note

I went to culture camp up in Alaska, the island my mother was born on … And so, what they teach at culture camp is some of the things that our people used to do, and some of them still do that. And so, I just, I don’t like fish. None of us [siblings] was ever taught to like fish. But we were Americanized, and so we ate hot dogs and cereal, bologna and cheese sandwiches almost day in and day out. But my parents loved fish, and they would go to the beach, and they would fish a lot.
