Author's StatementI come from a long legacy of corn farmers. Currently, my family farms corn as seen in this picture. I come from a tribe where the three sisters (corn, beans, and squash) are central to our traditional foodways. My STEM discipline has also led me to work closely with corn but, instead of thinking about how to best grow corn, I am thinking about how best to break corn down either as food or for renewable energy.
