Students
- are introduced to the MPACT design/making model and design a bookmark to be 3D printed.
- learn about measurement.
- Figure out why a design will not 3D print well (decomposition in CT).
Project 2. Make a Soma Cube Puzzle with a Box ![Illustration of a Square Pyramid](https://www.terc.edu/mpact3d/wp-content/uploads/sites/48/2023/07/square-pyramid.png)
Students will:
- use the design/making model to make a 3D printed Soma Cube puzzle with Tinkercad.
- learn about volume and nets.
- make parts of a mobile, then put them together (decomposition in CT).
- Imagine shapes with pieces missing and how that affects volume (Spatial Reasoning).
Project 3. Make a Mobile ![Drawing of a mobile](https://www.terc.edu/mpact3d/wp-content/uploads/sites/48/2023/06/mobile-illustrated-testimonials.jpg)
Students will:
- use the design/making model to make a mobile for another class.
- learn about surface area and geometric nets.
- debug an algorithm (CT).
- imagine 3D shapes folded from 2D shapes (spatial reasoning).
