Two first graders engage in a math activity that involves connecting cubes.

This 1.5 day synchronous online workshop focuses on creating and sustaining equitable math learning communities in the elementary grades. Sessions address aspects of equitable math teaching and learning including: deep and rigorous mathematics, strength-based assessment, teacher and student identity and agency, and equitable participation.

Participants will:

  • Consider a framework for reflecting on equity in elementary math classrooms
  • Examine the role of teacher and student identity
  • Analyze student work and classroom video to consider the elements of an equitable math learning community
  • Become familiar with student and teacher reflection tools designed to foster an equitable learning environment
  • Reflect on ways to incorporate a focus on equity into their settings

Upcoming Workshops: July 10-11, 2024. Registration opens 4/8/24. We encourage people to attend with colleagues, in teams of up to 4. 

Tuition: $275 per participant until 5/8/24; $300 until 7/2/24; $325 until registration closes 7/8/24. 

Schedule: 9:00-3:45 EST on Day 1 and 9:00-1:00 EST on Day 2.  

Contact Hours: Participants receive a certificate for 11 contact hours or PDPs (MA only) upon completion of the workshop.
