Fall 2011 Investigations Common Core Institute Open for Registration in Boston, Charlotte, and Tempe

The Investigations Implementation Center will be hosting a new one-day, Common Core Institute and Webinar Series this fall on October 28th in Boston, Massachusetts; November 4th in Charlotte, North Carolina; and December 2nd in Tempe, Arizona. The focus of the 1-day Institute is on using Investigations and the new companion materials, Investigations and the Common Core to teach the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Mathematics.

Institute participants will:

  • hear from Investigations authors about how the curriculum and the new companion materials align with the CCSS.
  • participate in sessions focused on the Mathematical Practices and the Content Standards.
  • consider issues of implementation at the district and school level.
  • receive PowerPoint sessions and resources for use at their own sites.
  • receive a copy of Investigations and the Common Core at each grade, K-5.

The one-day Institute will run from 8:30-4:00 in the 3 locations. Three one-hour follow-up webinars, facilitated by the authors of Investigations, provide a more in-depth look at content changes in K-2 and 3-5 as well as further consideration of issues of implementation. Webinar 1 –Investigations and the Common Core K-2 (December 2011)
This one-hour webinar takes a more in-depth look at how the K-2 standards are addressed in Investigations, with particular attention to the new content ideas at each grade level.

Webinar 2 – Investigations and the Common Core 3-5 (January 2012) 
This one-hour webinar takes a more in-depth look at how the 3-5 standards are addressed in Investigations, with particular attention to the new content ideas at each grade level.

Webinar 3 – Investigations and the Common Core: Q and A with the Authors (March 2012)
 A one-hour webinar answering questions about Investigations and the CCSS and supporting implementation.
