CAMBRIDGE, MA– Research papers by TERC scientists Dr. Tamara Shapiro Ledley and Dr. Carla McAuliffe will be presented at the Geological Society of America’s 2009 Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon, on October 18th through the 21st, 2009.

Dr. Ledley’s paper on “The Climate Literacy Essential Principles: Improving Climate Literacy Across All Stakeholders and Audiences” will be accompanied by a review and discussion about the Climate Literacy Network’s pioneering set of educational guidelines for improving climate literacy for all citizens. Dr. McAuliffe’s papers on using current geospatial technologies to invigorate K-12 science classroom curriculums will be discussed during the “Eyes in the Sky: Using Geospatial Technology to Investigate Issues in Environmental Science” and “Deconstructing Geospatial Technologies: Considering the Role of Spatial Thinking Along With A TPCK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) Framework” sessions.
