DataTools Launches Teacher Professional Development

March 15, 2006

The DataTools professional development program is currently accepting applications from teachers of middle school science, technology, and math in eastern Massachusetts. DataTools prepares teachers to use a wealth of free web-based scientific data and data analysis software while promoting student inquiry and analysis. The program is designed to help teachers supplement and enrich their existing curriculum, using data and technology, vs. trying to add new content to a full plate.

Participants and program staff will work closely together in occasional meetings, a summer workshop at the Boston Museum of Science (weeks of July 10 and July 17, 2006), and in distance learning sessions, throughout the 13-month program. Participants who complete the program will receive a stipend of $1700 and 45 PDPs. The program starts on March 25, 2006, and ends on April 7, 2007.
