Articles Focus on TERC Work with Deaf Students, Families

TERC staff are featured in two recent magazine articles.

The May issue of Learning and Leading with Technology includes an article by TERC Senior Scientist Judy Vesel. The article, about TERC’s Signing Science project, describes the project team’s work with Vcom3D adapting the EnViSci Network Web-enhanced curriculum units for deaf and hard of hearing students. Signing Science uses three-dimensional animated figures to sign science concepts in American Sign Language or Signed English. The project is making it easier for deaf and hard of hearing students to master standards-based science content. ISTE members can read the article online at www.iste.org.

The June issue of District Administration Magazine has an article on helping schools communicate with parents about reform math curricula. TERC's Megan Murray is quoted in the article. Murray is the author of Schools and Families: Creating a Math Partnership. This book describes effective tools educators can use to improve and develop relationships with parents and families.
